After 22 years of living and teaching in Iceland, Vitor returned to the Algarve to pursue a teaching career at Aspire International School. He has a Master’s degree in education from the University of Iceland with a specialisation in KS2 teaching. As a teacher, he uses creativity to inspire his students. He believes that every child has a unique intelligence and that teaching must be adapted to the child’s strengths.

What do you enjoy most about teaching Year 6 students?
Answer:
Year 6 is such an important and exciting stage. Students are growing in confidence and independence, and it’s a privilege to help prepare them for the transition to secondary school. I enjoy supporting both their academic progress and their personal development during this key year.
Why is music important in primary education?
Answer:
Music allows children to express themselves in ways that go beyond words. It builds confidence, creativity, and teamwork, while also supporting concentration and memory. I love seeing students discover their musical abilities and take pride in their achievements.
What is your goal for students in your classroom?
Answer:
My goal is for every student to feel confident, capable, and proud of their progress. Whether through academic success or creative expression in music, I want them to develop a love of learning and believe in their own potential.
